Story of the Project
I would like to share my experience in developing the Coin Wist crypto news blogging website. As a front-end developer, my goal was to create a website that delivers a great user experience while implementing the latest UI practices and trends.
To start off, I designed the website’s UI prototype using Figma, studying and researching UI practices from multiple crypto websites. Then, I used WordPress and Elementor page builder to bring the design to life.
One of the new trends I implemented was adding a hovering menu button in the bottom center of the page. I did this because I wanted to improve the user experience, especially for mobile devices. The bottom of the screen is the comfort zone when using the mobile phone in one hand, and adding a hovering menu button made it much easier for users to navigate through the website.
Another trend I used was decreasing the main sections count in pages. By doing this, I was able to reduce the website’s DOM size and improve its loading time. This also helped to make the website’s interface more simplistic and easier to navigate.
I also used next-generation image formats such as WEBP. While AVIF has a better compression rate than WEBP, Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari browsers won’t render AVIF. Using next-generation image formats helped the website deliver high-quality images while using less bandwidth and server-side space.
One of the unique features of this website was that I implemented dark mode. This was the first commercial website I developed that had dark mode. This was important because it provided users with an alternative color scheme that was easy on the eyes, especially when browsing at night.
Overall, I am extremely proud of my work on the Coin Wist crypto news blogging website. I believe that by implementing the latest UI practices and trends, I was able to create a website that delivers an outstanding user experience.
